Citric acid anhydrous is a white and crystalline powder in texture. It is an antioxidant used to adjust the pH balance of creams and lotions, especially shampoos and other hair products. It is an organic carboxylic acid extracted from the juice of citrus fruits with calcium oxide to form calcium citrate. This precipitate is collected by filtration. Then the citric acid is recovered from its calcium salt by adding sulfuric acid. Ours is conventional and non-GMO.
